Rich Internet Application Development Propelled Into High Gear With Snapp MX Pro v1.0 By Netcentrics
Snapp MX Offers Web-based Visual Development Environment with Integrated Java, C#, VB.NET and CFML Web Service Code Generator
For Immediate Release
KELOWNA, BC Canada/EWORLDWIRE/April 28, 2005 --- In support of Java(TM), .NET(TM) and ColdFusion MX(TM) developers, Netcentrics Corp. has released Snapp MX(TM) Professional v.1.0, the industry's first platform agnostic, web-based, visual development environment, expediting and simplifying the construction of multi-tier rich Internet applications (starting price US$499).
For the first time, developers can learn and use one tool to create web-based business systems for all common environments. With Snapp MX, they are no longer tethered or restricted to a specific language and/or platform.
Engineered as a Rich Internet Application, Snapp MX is accessible through any common web browser running any of today's popular operating systems. In the back office, Snapp MX interacts with a web services layer, supported by any Java, .NET or ColdFusion MX application server and a data layer supporting all popular databases.
Snapp MX speeds prototyping of applications by providing an intuitive visual development environment, development wizards, attribute-driven component configuration, a secure and robust application framework and a multi-dialect Web Service code generator. Snapp MX totally eliminates the need to perform any kind of scripting (ActionScript(TM) or DHTML) to create fully functional dynamic user interface screens. To connect these screens to back office data resources, Snapp MX provides a web service code generator that produces fully documented Java, C#, VB.NET and CFML code complete with the required SQL statements.
"Developers have increased their productivity by a factor of three while reducing project costs," says Ray Filipiak, CEO of Netcentrics Corporation. "Snapp MX employs a prototyping approach to development which results in substantial increases in end-user satisfaction."
According to one study done at the University of West Virginia (Monkevich) in 1999, 36 percent of software defects are a direct result of poorly translated user requirements, something that is totally avoided with Snapp MX.
The rift that evolved between the major technology platforms - Java and .NET - resulted in over 60 percent of all enterprise operations electing to support both platforms within their IT infrastructure. Inflexible software development tools, their learning curve and platform complexities have forced developers to focus their attentions on just one platform. The development process has increasingly become contingent on resource expertise and availability, eliminating fit and applicability as factors. This dilemma is compounded by ever-changing business dynamics that place tremendous demands on developers to build short-lifespan systems fast and economically. These facts ultimately require a paradigm shift in development tools.
Larry Pierce of Pierce Information Consulting, Ohio downloaded the 30-day free trial and started developing his own applications the same day. "I developed a flash application in 25 minutes that had taken me several weeks to create using Macromedia's Flash(TM) authoring tool," he said.
Trinus Technologies Inc. an Alberta-based services company, was looking for a web application development tool. After extensive testing over two months on Macromedia's Flex(TM), Laszlo Systems' OpenLaszlo(TM) and Snapp MX, it ultimately selected Snapp MX. Dave White, a founding partner said, "Snapp MX emerged as the clear winner when we examined ease of use and rapid mistake-free development. The ability to have our business analyst perform some of the prototyping work was an unexpected bonus. We used to throw the prototype away after the client approved it and started 'real coding' from scratch. With Snapp MX, we move directly to implementing solutions by hooking the prototype to the data sources. Overall, we estimate that Snapp MX will cut development costs by up to 67 percent."
"We are simply delighted with the developer community's acceptance of Snapp MX during our pre-launch phase and have over 500 trials in progress," said KC Chavda, CMO of Netcentrics Corp.
Snapp MX is part of the application construction and design market which is expected to exceed $2.0B in 2005, according to industry analyst IDC.
